Mercury Health awarded diagnostic contract for West Midlands

Mercury Health, the healthcare delivery arm of Tribal Group plc, has been appointed as the preferred bidder on a contract to provide a range of diagnostic services to NHS patients in the West Midlands. Under the contract, which will last for an initial period of five years, Mercury Health will be providing up to 190,000 diagnostic procedures annually.

The contract is one of seven regional diagnostic contracts to be awarded as part of the Phase 2 Independent Sector Treatment Centre programme. Financial close is expected to be reached by the end of the year and service delivery is due to commence during the first half of 2007.

This is a very significant development for Mercury Health, which is currently delivering a full range of healthcare services to 18 Primary Care Trusts throughout England.

Chief executive Peter Martin, said: “We are looking forward to being able to provide highquality, fast and convenient access to diagnostic tests for patients from the West Midlands.”
