Managing PDOC

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) has introduced new guidelines on the diagnosis and management of people with prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC).

They are designed to help healthcare staff, families and carers to understand the clinical, ethical and legal issues surrounding the care of these patients. There are currently no data on the number of patients with PDOC in England and Wales and the RCP also recommends a new national registry for patients.
