Advance for fistula treatment

COOK BIOTECH has launched its innovative Surgisis AFP anal fistula plug, the world’s first medical device designed to permanently close painful, debilitating anal fistulas.

The device takes advantage of Cook’s Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Technology biomaterial to plug the fistula and promote natural tissue regeneration to heal the opening. In time for its launch into the UK market, Cook Biotech received CE Marking approval for the device.

Surgisis AFP, sold by Cook Incorporated’s Surgical Division, is a cone-shaped device that has been specifically designed to allow a surgeon to easily place it into a fistula tract. Once in place, Surgisis AFP serves as a bioscaffold to facilitate well-organised tissue regeneration to close the fistula.
