STARKSTROM recently completed work on its element of a major refurbishment of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Leeds General Infirmary.
Starkstrom fitted 20 articulated medical supply pendants, which allow medical services to be positioned near to the young patients in the PICU. Starkstrom also installed two Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, each of which gives a live autonomy countdown display at the nurse base if there is a mains failure. The UPS units were supported by six Isolated Power Supply (IPS) units, featuring Starkstrom’s new Automatic Transfer Switching system – SATS. This means that should the main power supply fail, the SATS automatically switches to back up and restores supply within 0.5 seconds, building resilience, reliability and safety into the operating theatre or critical care area’s power supply.
