AfPP announces Patient Safety Roadshow

The Association of Perioperative Practice (AfPP), in collaboration with Molnlycke Health Care, will be hosting a series of Patient Safety Roadshows across the country.

The roadshows will focus on raising awareness and patient safety in three main areas, infection prevention, sharps injury and patient warming. The full day event will look in detail at how personal styles affect others in ‘Better Teams, Better Care’, surgical site infections, infection control, the European Standard and the cost of SSIs and how to prepare for the new EU Directive on sharps injury prevention.

Delegates will also examine how a simple activity such as patient warming can reduce hypothermia incidents, resulting in cost savings and reduced risk of complications.

To stimulate learning, the event has been designed to be highly interactive and is full of workshops and hands-on sessions, followed up with post-show webinars.

Roadshow dates and locations include: Beardmore Hotel, Glasgow, Wednesday 19 June 2013; Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, Thursday 19 September 2013; Bradford Royal Infirmary, Bradford, Thursday 17 October 2013

Dawn Stott, Chief Executive said: “With the recent revelations from the Francis report, patient safety is now at the forefront of healthcare policy. We are delighted to be holding these new and innovative roadshow events, demonstrating our commitment to leading perioperative education and promoting best practice. We would like to thank Molnlycke Health Care for their sponsorship and support helping us to develop such a stimulating programme.”
