Dirty uniforms concern

Many of Britain’s hospital staff are worried that hand-cleaning initiatives are in vain as nurses risk spreading infection through dirty uniforms – this is revealed in a Patients Association survey.

Those in the front line, including infection control nurses and facilities managers, say some nurses carry yesterday’s stains, as there are too few uniforms, poor changing facilities, and doubt over laundering techniques. The poll was conducted among delegates attending a conference.
