Providing an insight into patient experience

Managing the patient flow is important when running a modern, efficient, and organised hospital. Getinge is offering hospitals the chance to do this seamlessly through its INSIGHT Patient Flow Management solution.

Having complete control over a patient from arrival to discharge allows staff to plan, prioritise and perform according to the ever-changing situation in a hospital and helps them provide the patient with the best possible care.

With INSIGHT the patient flow through the hospital comes together as a single and structured encounter, centralised around the patient.

Here he or she is followed through the system from arrival, to examination, surgery and recovery, and finally to a safe discharge.

The INSIGHT Patient Flow Management solution offers hospitals user-friendly and intuitive overviews and a variety of interaction options from different platforms, which greatly support the continuous sharing of information and ensure that the handling of daily tasks becomes simple and effortless.

At all times the patient and his or her treatment plan is visible from touchscreens, computers or mobile devices, so that the right information and updates are shared with the right people at the right time. This allows time for preparation even before the patient arrives at a new destination and ensures that everybody knows where the patient is, where he or she is going next, and who is responsible for the continued treatment.

With INSIGHT in every department there is no risk of losing data during transfers or need for pocket notes, as everything is readily available on the displays. This enables clinicians to work from a single point of departure, resulting in a far more efficient utilisation of hospital resources.

Furthermore, integrating the INSIGHT solution with third-party systems such as ambulance systems, the electronic medical record, the hospital information system, booking systems, patient administration systems, master patient index, radiology systems, laboratory systems and service logistics systems, clinicians can access and update even more information from the INSIGHT interface, limiting the need for multiple system sign-ins and double registration – thus ensuring more efficient workflows.

Below is an overview of the three INSIGHT products:

INSIGHT Emergency

Things always move fast in the emergency department. Patients are arriving, treated and sent on or discharged – all in a matter of a few hours – and the staff always need to be prepared for the arrival of the next patient. As a result, time is of the essence and easy access to information about patients, beds, personnel and the current capacity is crucial to the flow in the department.

INSIGHT Surgical

INSIGHT Surgical has been developed to actively support the workflow in the surgery department. The screens provide complete overviews of operating rooms, personnel and patients, and visualise the surgery schedule of the day along with the current status of the ongoing surgeries.

With INSIGHT surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, coordinators, porters and cleaning personnel are kept up to date with the current situation in the department. Consequently, information about changes, cancellations and reprioritisations are shared within a few seconds, allowing all parties to adjust accordingly.

INSIGHT Patient Ward

NSIGHT Patient Ward supports the daily handling and coordination of tasks and activities in and between hospital bed departments, recovery and intensive care units, and psychiatry wards.

From touchscreens strategically placed throughout the departments and units the staff can follow the patients, update their treatment plans, keep up to date with the in and outbound flow, and plan a structured and efficient discharge process.
