With more than 14,000 employees worldwide, STERIS is a major player in the healthcare sector. In more than 100 countries, STERIS innovations have been developed in a bid to improve the day to day routine of hospital teams, including operating theatre equipment, disinfection and infection prevention.

STERIS believes that in the operating theatre, patient safety is the priority and that teams and equipment must be completely reliable. The company aims to help implement optimal organisation which guarantees flawless execution of medical procedures.

Today, STERIS holds one of the broadest portfolios of products in the industry to offer innovative and customised systems. It is broadening its reach even further with products to help users gain productivity, lower costs and protect staff and patients.

STERIS recognises the challenges facing today’s ORs:

  •  Achieving efficient workflow through tools that are easy to use
  • Keeping a focus on the patient to deliver excellent care instead of diagnosing OR equipment issues
  • Connecting the devices, systems and teams needed to achieve better outcomesl Increasing procedural turnaround and the hospital’s bottom line.

Through its OR Integration Systems, STERIS focuses on supporting patients and hospital teams alike, through easy-to-use and scalable technology designed to support the operative workflow.

Harmony iQ Integration Systems was developed to provide a simple, single point of control that allows surgical teams to route all the images, video, audio and data they need to any monitor, recording device or remote location. Harmony iQ Integration Systems also control operating theatre infrastructure such as room and surgical lights, in-light and wall cameras, music systems and video conferencing systems, all with the touch of a finger.

Surgical grade monitor quality

STERIS developed its 4K Vividimage surgical monitors to provide greater detail and increased nuances, as well as a high contrast balance and more real and smoother blends. According to the company, it is easy to create presets to customise images for each surgeon, depending on their visualisation preferences.

The XLED HD in-light camera allows the medical team to visualise the surgical procedures on surgical grade monitors or to broadcast them via video conferences for teaching purposes. HD resolution is achieved via the integration of 2 million pixels, enabling exceptionally clean and clear images for users. By clicking and connecting, a quick insertion is achieved and a single camera can easily be shared in a number of rooms.

It’s critical to ensure that OR teams can use the technology in the OR easily and efficiently. This is why the user-focused touch panel was designed by those who use it every day: OR nurses.

After the procedure, all the assets from the user’s office, at home or anywhere there is an internet connection, can be securely retrieved. These can then be edited, shared and archived.

The search functionality enable users to search for – and view – the videos or images, enabling reports to be published, images to be shared with colleagues, or past procedures to be reviewed. Seamless archival also enables users to easily transfer images and videos to hospital EMR or PACS.

The system also enables users to observe live video streams, surgical cases from any location, download anonymised images and videos for use in education, and build video libraries with keyword search capability.

STERIS deployed its extensive experience in the surgical environment to create systems that are easy to learn and use and simple to connect.
