CHKS, a provider of healthcare intelligence and quality improvement services, has announced the winners of its Top Hospitals 2016 national awards.

These awards celebrate the success of healthcare and social care providers across the UK and internationally and include award categories for patient safety, quality of care and data quality.

The award is based on indicators including rates of hospital-acquired infections and mortality. Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust was the winner of the quality of care award. The award was made on the basis of performance in a number of areas including the length of time patients stay in hospital and rate of emergency re-admissions.

The data quality awards were given to University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in England, Southern Health and Social Care Trust for Northern. Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Aspen Healthcare – Claremont Hospital for the independent sector, and Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust was the winner in the specialist category.
