As an industry leader in patient handling equipment, Stryker is determined to develop innovative solutions that address issues surrounding hospital efficiency.

Stryker designs and manufactures advanced patient care and handling equipment for the global healthcare sector. The company was founded on the principles of providing innovative and quality products to help practitioners and caregivers deliver better care to patients. Among the company’s solutions, which combine functionality with patient comfort, efficiency and aesthetics, is the Stryker Prime Solution.

Stryker Prime Solution

The demands on healthcare professionals have never been greater – with heavier patients, longer transports, demanding patients and an expectation to perform with fewer hands on deck, healthcare organisations are forced to do more with less. Stryker has the Prime Solution to help address these needs.

Patients are spending more time on stretchers than ever before and Stryker Prime is designed to ensure safety and efficiency, while enhancing the patient experience. Prime is BackSmart, which means it can be instrumental in reducing caregiver injuries during patient care. It offers three mobility options and unprecedented patient comfort.

Patients can adjust their own positions without calling a caregiver for assistance, while a variety of available support surfaces and configuration options give Prime the versatility required.

  • The Stryker Prime 700 lb weight capacity, combined with multiple mobility solutions, helps to accommodate heavy patients and long transports.
  • Power and control options give more flexibility and control than ever to both nurse and patient.
  • A choice of available surfaces addresses patient comfort and skin issues associated with extended lengths of stay, helping maintain a positive patient experience.

The Stryker Prime series is the solution to long transports, heavy patients and carpeted hallways. With three mobility options across electric and manual versions, Trusts are able to select an optimal solution that best suits their needs.

  • Stryker Prime with Fifth Wheel Stryker Prime is available with a retractable fifth wheel to provide controlled traction and cornering.
  • Stryker Prime with Big Wheel The Big Wheel mobility option can reduce start-up force up to 50% and steering effort up to 60%.
  • Stryker Prime with Stryker Zoom Stryker Prime virtually eliminates manual pushing with Stryker Zoom motorised drive technology

Prime can save backs

Nursing injuries are expensive for healthcare organisations and can shorten careers. Most injuries occur while repositioning, lifting or moving patients. Stryker Prime is designed to help reduce or eliminate awkward body positions that can lead to injury by incorporating ergonomic and electric functionality.

Applying advanced engineering practices alongside biomechanical science, Stryker developed electric options for the Stryker Prime Series trolleys. Trusts can now experience the electric option on the Stryker Prime Stretcher with powered lift, knee gatch and backrest. Even when electric controls are not used, Stryker BackSmart design makes manual adjustments easy for a seamless transition between electric and manual modes.

With the electric comfort controls, patients can control their own comfort instead of calling for assistance and repositioning. Controls are staggered so that the patient can access them in any position, and they include a patient lockout. Optional foot-end nursing controls allow caregivers to improve patient comfort with the touch of a button.

Additionally, the electric stretchers offer an electric lift base option, which allows caregivers to electrically adjust the height of the stretcher. This option helps the caregivers to electrically raise the stretcher to a working height that is most comfortable while bending or reaching to access controls are minimised. Switches and releases require low force and are easy to operate.

Stryker ProCare: when failure is not an option

Medical stretchers and EMS equipment are becoming technologically advanced and products are moving from simple ‘nuts and bolts’ to ‘software, electronics, batteries and advanced communications.’ With advances in technology, it can take in-house maintenance staff longer to fix products, with a potential loss of production time elsewhere in the hospital, as well as increased product downtime. However, it is important that equipment is professionally serviced to avoid compromising patient care.

Stryker ProCare programmes allow the customer the opportunity to have their Stryker products serviced in an efficient and cost effective manner with professional results. With rapid advances in technology it is vitally important to properly service and maintain critical components on Stryker products for customer satisfaction and patient safety.

ProCare provides an exceptional level of service for facilities that are committed to delivering a higher standard. Customisable and scalable to any budget, ProCare services consistently provide a proactive solution to Trusts’ maintenance needs. ProCare service solutions use advanced tracking metrics to minimise product downtime, which can assist customers in achieving their patient and caregiver safety goals, while all ProCare offerings are supported by factory trained Stryker technicians – ensuring all equipment and documentation is maintained to high standards.

The Stryker Solution

ProCare solutions are intended to assist hospitals by providing:

  • Preventative maintenance checks.
  • Reduced hospital costs.
  • Elimination of product down time.
  • Decreased maintenance staff down time.
  • Peace of mind for nursing staff.
  • Reduced nursing distractions allowing them to focus on care for patients.
  • Enhanced quality of the products.
  • Reduced patient transfer due to broken equipment.
  • Increased patient satisfaction scores.
  • Help with compliance to hospital and local regulatory risk management.
